Proverbs 2

Hey Girls!

Well it is safe to assume that today has TOTALLY gotten away from me. We started bright and early with an 8:30 DRAGONS SOCCER game! J rocked the field and had a blast - there is nothing better than seeing the PURE JOY of a four year who has just scored! We then came home and proceeded to count down to nap time - we were all exhausted. We went to church tonight, where Robert preached on "Worrying" and mentioned Proverbs 2 at length. Ironic since I have been trying to decide what portion speaks most to me. Then after church we enjoyed a yummy and actually delightful dinner with sweet friends (4 adults, 6 kids)!

So today we look at Proverbs 2 - Lets start by reading the scripture:

Proverbs 2
Moral Benefits of Wisdom
1 My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
3 indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.

9 Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11 Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.

12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men,
from men whose words are perverse,
13 who have left the straight paths
to walk in dark ways,
14 who delight in doing wrong
and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
15 whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in their ways.

16 Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman,
from the wayward woman with her seductive words,
17 who has left the partner of her youth
and ignored the covenant she made before God.[a]
18 Surely her house leads down to death
and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
19 None who go to her return
or attain the paths of life.

20 Thus you will walk in the ways of the good
and keep to the paths of the righteous.
21 For the upright will live in the land,
and the blameless will remain in it;
22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land,
and the unfaithful will be torn from it.

My Thoughts and take-aways:
Wisdom helps us to know how to act and speak in different situations. It provides the ability to avoid problems as well as the skill to handle them when they come up. The source of wisdom for us is GOD himself. He left us a true manual on life, THE BIBLE, and we should live our lives according to his directions. The true fool turns from GOD's knowledge and his direction. The true fool makes bad decisions and is ultimately punished. But if we as believers turn to God for his wisdom in our lives we will be saved, protected and guided! We are put here on Earth to navigate through life's difficulties and the one person who can help us is GOD - through HIS wisdom, insight and understanding. So lean on the LORD and you will in turn be WISE. Look to his WORD and you will become wise.

Love to all and good night!

  1. Agree! It's seems so silly that we ever look to anything other than God for wisdom but we do. Or how we pray for wisdom but still make decisions based on our own thoughts/feelings. Reminds me of Isaiah 55:8-11, God is in control of the "big picture" and understands everything, who better to go to?
